Interactive White Board

  

Interactive White Board (IWB), before taking the subject SSI 3013 Informative and Communication Technology in Science  the IWB term is quite alien to me because i never got the opportunity to use the IWB in other subject.. Thanks to the lecture and instructor for introduce me to this technology. Before this, I only heard my course mate describe about this board. But I do not have deep knowledge or experience about it. I am quite excited when our instructor gave me chance to use this board during the lab session. For me smart board is really user friendly because it really help peoples especially educators to deliver the knowledge and information in an attractive way. With IWB the lesson can be done in interesting way student can interact with the board quickly without having to use mouse or keyboard. IWB also have many built-in plug-in that enable me to input variety of item such as flash video file, picture (jpg) and other type of file.

Interactive White Board is a large interactive display that connects to a computer and projector. A projector projects the computer's desktop onto the board's surface where users control the computer using a pen, finger, stylus, or other device. The board is typically mounted to a wall or floor stand. They are used in a variety of settings, including classrooms at all levels of education, in corporate board rooms and work groups, in training rooms for professional sports coaching, in broadcasting studios and others.

Because my inexperience with the use of smart board, I have  many difficulty at the early stage of using it. I also have take a lot of precaution to ensure that i can use the smart board efficiently. I need to ensure that my hand is not wet or sweating because the screen of smart board cannot detect the signal. Besides that, I must not move the board position by push it too hard since this will shift the position of the smart board slightly backward. I just need to calibrate it when the smart board did not function well. The instructor just showed to me and other class mates the basic technique of using smart board. I need to explore it by my own in order to master it. For me, I thought my group member and I did a good job in using the smart board for our first Problem Base Learning presentation about Smart School. We did some exploration through the Smart Notebook software and come out with great presentation slide. At least it is much-much better that power point slide that we usually prepared for class presentation. 

With every task given to us by lecture which require the use of IWB, my skill in using it steadily increase. It can be said that by the end of the semester I already have master the basic function of the IWB. I hope in the future if i will work in any school that can provide the IWB, i will use my knowledge to teach the student with using the IWB.
